Barnargilya and Jabiru

Barnargilya and Jabiru is the dreamtime story of how an old man and his sons confront the Jabiru spirit being. It is a story from the days of the dreamtime before the animals took their current forms and magic was alive. It is a traditional Wambaya story from the Barkly Tablelands area of the Northern Territory, north-east of Tennant Creek. The Wambaya language is an endangered indigenous language as we have only a handful of fluent speakers left. Our endeavour is to record and keep the language and culture alive through the dreamtime stories for future generations.
